As an ancient form of perfumery, incense in different cultures varies by shapes, purposes and functions. In the Chinese Song Dynasty, incense-burning, tea-tasting, flower-arranging, and painting-appreciation are collectively regarded as the "Four Elegant Pursuits" of the higher-class nobility. In China, fragrant substances and aromatic herbs were extensively used as a medium for communicating with divine since thousands of years ago, and gradually prevailed, as a form of art and entertainment, from the royal and noble families to the lives of common people.

Sophia is a perfumer whose incense studio, Smell Addicted, is mainly focusing on providing authentic experiences of Chinese traditional scent creation and delivering its culture behind.
